Bringing Sexy Back ;D

A guilty feeling resides in our stomach everytime we remember about our blog. A levels suck, right? Taking over your life and what not. But just because we study 24/7 (well, Daisy anyway) doesn't mean we haven't made time to watch movies and we certainly have not given up on our blog! So, be prepared and please await a joint review on THE WOMAN IN BLACK and various other tidbits and comments on movies such as The Number 23 from Daisy hopefully over the next couple of days :D

Read All About This, Kate Winslet...Oh Wait....

Channel 4's whacking out some good'uns at the mo! The Reader was this Sunday night's extravaganzaaaaa and yes, I was once again rather excited to experience watching another must-see highly-acclaimed picture.

I was *not* disappointed. I have to say, I didn't know much about the film before other than the affair between Hanna Schmitz (Kate Winslet) and Michael Berg (David Kross) and the shock value surrounding the large age gap. I was pleasantly surprised however to find there was a lot more to the story and these characters than pure lust and hiding their affection.

For once, English being used instead of German with subtitles as me and Harry both prefer (after all if they are meant to be portrayed as German speaking German in Germany, they should be actually speaking German) doesn't take away from the film at all as it allows us to fully appreciate the acting. And it wasn't half bad :P Kate Winslet really is something!

And well done not mucking up your speech and the Golden Globes :P Apparently reading's not the only thing she needs to practice...

Bring On The HP (And I Don't Mean The Sauce!)

Like the lazy peeps we are, me and Harry ditched handing out CVs for a short notice HP marathon at our friends (OH YEAH!). Part of me has felt ol' Potter's ventures have the potential to get a tad tedious, but I just can't deny the excitement of a Harry Potter sesh, for the series is made up of such classics (or as Harry decribes them: landmark films of our generation's childhood - good enough for me). We decided the films once again don't quite reflect how amazing the books are but for them to achieve such an impossible task it'd have taken a hell of a lot of money and about 10 hours for each installment - so hats off to what they've done! Only having time for myself to watch the first, I realised that this is in fact my least favourite. As well as the cheesiness, the acting and script aren't that great (my Harry's thought's also) but granted, it is a family film and they were very young. I much prefer when they get a lot darker and there's more twists in the storyline as the plot starts to thicken and unfold. So basically I don't like Chris Columbus' interpretation and naivety of the delightful wizarding world. It's a shame I didn't get to watch more but I don't have the whole Blu-ray set for nothing ;D I thought I only really liked a few and on a good occasion but thinking about what's exactly in each one and the personality of each attracts me to ALL of them. I do believe though that the 3rd,5th and Part 2 are my faves with the first being my least favourite but I know that every single person has a completey different opinion on each. So...for pure curiosity, I'd like to know what everyone's favourite is so vote on the poll on our page and feel free to leave a comment with why that's your fave - we'd love to hear from our readers :D

And We Haaave A Winnnner!!

Finally, ladies and gentleman, Daisy Victoria Edwards has a favourite film!  One that I wanted to watch again as soon as it finished! One that I'll actually want to watch over and over and over...some may say (500) times (I'm such a joker!)

Yes, (500) Days Of Summer, you clever people! Even the title radiates something special and individual reflecting the quirky and different take on a traditional love story...And if this didn't sell it to me, the prospect of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel's beautiful kids sure did!

I love a bit of interesting and unique editing to add humour among many other things so the from the beginning my eyes were glued. The narrative structure of the films adds so much more emotion and attachment to the film's characters and simply reflects how this relationship is like no other.

Simply beautiful, so sad while hilariously funny. But sightly illogical, I mean, how on Earth can JGL not get a girlfriend? No worries, his little sister Chloe Grace Moretz's help is at hand (talk about an talented family).

Not only did I want (to be) the actors, JGL's full wall chalkboard and to live in America purely for their amazingly classic movie theatres but I had to get it on Blu-Ray ASAP! And the soundtrack of course! I'm still waiting on both while shaking a tad...

That's how I know I've found my fave film....

Don't Cry Over Jennifer Connelly: Selfish Bitch

REQUIEM FOR A DREAM! WHY HAVE I ONLY JUST SEEN THIS FILM!!??

This film = (insane s*** + drugs + immense editing/directing) x Jared Motherf...Leto

So why did I have to wait for the school film club to bring it to me? I should have been running to it just to stroke Jared's eye on the cover...(have an obsession as you can tell...well, he is a God amongst men!) BONUS: He was called Harry (I can dream...JK) Took me by surprise when he opened his mouth though - was not expected that accent...but I found it quite endearing after a while (does he have any flaws?) And how cute was he playing around with his gf: Jennifer Connelly

But enough about Him for now. This film is up there not just for good actors but my God, the editing: split screens and montages galore. Not sure if the drugs bit got overused at one point but as it was consistent it was one of the fundamental elements that make the film so unique and ground-breaking.

And while we're on groundbreaking: the soundtrack *UGH - screams uncontrollably* Yeah, it's repeated sometimes and you think whoah deja vu but you've got to have a theme, right? Theme's are the best! And this theme is heavenly! Adds so much more tension and emotion to the scenes - I almost cried at the aftermath...

Some people shouldn't cry *coughJaredcough* - please you're a beautiful man, just don't lower yourself to cry over that selfish girlfriend of yours who you treat like a crackwhore princess and she just cares when she's gonna next get to fix herself up. But don't worry about your poor, cold, injured boyfriend who's just as much a junkie as you are a shllllllaaaaaaaag (fair does, you needed the money though)...

As I need to watch this film, AGAIN! SOON! MUCH LOVE FOR DIS MOVIE AND SOUNDTRACK - GO WATCH IT NOW!
